"Public Market"

Public Market, San Pedro de Macoris
"The market building was a different structure from the post office that it is today. It was an open plan whith towers on each corner and an entrance from each of the four sides of the building. The design had no precedent.
The corner towers anchor the otherwise transparent views through the structure. A photograph of the interior shows the original classic columns partly integrated into the sales counters of the post office. The market space must have been grand and lively with the booths of fruit and vegetable sales areas filled with tropical colors".
