"Understanding and Managing Risk" A Schinnerer Seminar

Victor O. Shinnerer & Company has scheduled one of their national "Understanding and Managing Risk" full-day seminars for our regional meeting. These seminars are held throughout the United States cooperatively with the American Institute of Architects and the National Society of Professional Engineers and with the cosponsorship AIA Puerto Rico. Local AIA members would pay $175.00 ($125.00 if their firm is insured by the CNA/Schinnerer program) for the full-day program - note that this includes lunch, two morning coffee breaks and afternoon coffee/pastry break, and their workbook binder of information and exercises.

Picturesque Paradise Where an orange sun warms a crystal blue sea. Balmy tradewinds kiss the shore. Pastel tinted buildings line cobblestone streets.

Enchanted Port Steeped in legend. Where an ancient castle hovers near the ocean. Where centuries-old churches dot the landscape.

Cosmopolitan Mecca Pulsing with energy. Brimming with world class shopping, five-star dining and a bounty of nightlife. Where shoppers delight and visitors endulge.

Welcome to the splendor of San Juan!

As host chapter we invite you to an event organized by architects and architect's organizations along the Caribbean. We hope the architectural activities complement and focus the buissness aspect of this conference which include discussions from 500-years-old historic rehabilitation projects to "on-line" electronic forums, a range that can only take place here.

The buisness exchange opportunities can also be framed within Puerto Rico's public and private sectors. They are on record to be comitted to the Caribbean Basin Initiative, NAFTA and other forms of cooperation with other countries in the region to reach common goals of economic development. We feel Puerto Rico is a fertile ground with extensive infrastructure to nurture all ideas forthcoming from this conference and also offers a friendly atmosphere for our Latin American colleagues to feel more at ease.

AIA Puerto Rico is a certified provider of continuing education under AIA/CES guidelines. In particular those noted as "HSW" are courses related to health, safety and welfare. The courses offered here can also meet Florida's Board of Architecture continuing education requirements. All the offerings except as noted will be in English, however do consider Spanish is the main language of our other guests.

After a visit by Hurricane Hortense in mid- September, this chapter's efforts were diverted to help our fellow islanders. The effort was so complete and thorough that we felt ready to continue our commitment to this regional meeting even with a two week delay on our schedule. We hope you share our enthusiasm and we look forward to your
support in making this conference a success.
